Southern TOHOKU Hospital Group installs new robotic surgical system
Southern TOHOKU Hospital Group have installed the da Vinci Surgical System, a minimally invasive and meticulous technique, at both Shin-Yurigaoka General Hospital in 2012 and Southern TOHOKU General Hospital in December 2017 respectively.

We have performed more than 600 successful cases (till July 2017). This state-of-the-art surgical equipment is used in Urology and Gynecology surgeries with less blood loss and shorter surgery hours. Patients can recover sooner and return to normal activities quicker.

Osaka Namba Clinic to Open in October 2018

Southern TOHOKU Hospital Group’s affiliated Osaka Namba Clinic is scheduled to open in October 2018. It will be located in New Nankai Building at city center with easy reach to Kansai International Airport by Nankai Electric Railway. This clinic has technologically advanced diagnostic equipment and offers a full spectrum of services to meet international patients’ needs.

The 2nd NRW-Fukushima Joint Symposium on Advances in Medicine
Southern TOHOKU Hospital Group (STHG) and University Hospital Essen (UHE) joint held “The 2nd NRW-Fukushima Joint Symposium on Advances in Medicine” under the auspices of the German State North Rhine-Westphalia and Fukushima Prefecture of Japan at Southern TOHOKU General Hospital on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

This year’s symposium features topics: artificial intelligence in medicine and the hospital of the future, health management of the future, the next generation of particle beam therapies, minimal invasive surgery by means of endoscopes and robot, innovative technologies from bio-medical engineering, and international collaboration in patient treatment.

This joint symposium is being held to provide an opportunity to strategize the cooperation in innovative medicine and sophisticated infrastructure sharing among governments and hospitals in Germany, Japan and Asia.

Participants can learn about Fukushima’s present condition, progress and upcoming initiatives towards revitalization and further support the cooperation between North Rhine-Westphalia and Fukushima.

The 1st STHG Medical Partnership Meeting
The First STHG Medical Partnership Meeting was held on Friday, December 1, 2017 in Koriyama, Japan.

The meeting aims to review the current and probable future activities with medical partnerships and consider ways to strengthen working relationship and align future business strategies.

Partners include Essen University Hospital (Germany), Shanghai Punan Hospital of Pudong New District (China), Gadjah Mada University Academic University (Indonesia), College of Management of Taipei Medical University (Taiwan), and TMU-Shuang Ho Hospital (Taiwan) gathering together to share knowledge updates and experience with STHG affiliated hospitals/institutions, containing Southern TOHOKU General Hospital, Southern TOHOKU Proton Therapy Center, Southern TOHOKU BNCT Research Center, Tokyo General Hospital, Shin-Yurigaoka General Hospital, and Tokyo Clinic.

Founder and Chairman of the Board Dr. Kazuo Watanabe appreciated the attendance of MOU partners and looks forward to working together to offer value-added care and welfare to every individual.
